What to do with all the footage?

About five weeks ago, I started to cut some footage I shot with the drone on the Balearics a few months ago (the Spanish islands in the Mediterranean Sea; Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera). I ended up having about 12 minutes of 2 seconds short clips, once I had cut out the best sequences. That was at least 300 clips to make video of. I was working with quite a lot of random raw footage which I had been shooting as I was just flying my drone around with no specific plans for how to make the video.

I decided to start making 5 short videos out of the cut raw footage which I had. Well, actually I started to take the best shots out of those 12 minutes to begin with. Intendinng to just make one short video out of just the best sequences. I wanted to try making something similar to what’s on the screen saver for Apple TV. Well that’s a wish, because that’s something awesome. In the end I decided to make 5 videos out of it instead. I figured I need to spend some time learning video editing anyway. I wanted to try making a few different styles of videos.

My previous video

I definitely feel the need to be experimenting as I am learning to make videos. It is fun to focus on different aspects of the editing as I go along. I’d be trying any idea just to realize it doesn’t work, a lot of the times. Trial and error. For example in my last video (The Norrlänsk Munspelsvisa Video). I was mostly excited about adding and combine filters on to the footage. It starts with some pretty realistic (just color graded) views which gets more and more vivid towards the end, where I eventually end up playing with some animated generators. Here below is a link to that video:

In this recent video I made from The Balearics, I was mostly excited about playing with the transitions. I was trying to bare in mind not to go to hard on it, but I might have been a bit carried away. I had to reduce the amount of transitions at one stage, because it was just getting out of hand. But I still have something inside of me which would like to let go of my sensibility and just exeggerate. Maybe that’s for my next video. Anyways, here is the first drone video I made from The Balearics.
