We were going down towards the south part of the Red Sea. I asked the captain what the situation is like now a days in that area in regards of pirates. It has been a lot of piracy in the area for many years now (if not always). His reply was “Pirates?! We put up a big freakin’ canon on foredeck. Then we go out looking for pirates”. He smiled confidently. That’s traveling!

Because of the potential pirates. We took onboard security in Jeddah. A police boat escorted a boat full of Colombian security guards, weapons and ammunition. Then we were traveling south for a few days. The security guards had to get up early in the morning to have lots of time to put all the bullets into the ammunition belts and rig up the heavy machine guns on to their stands. There were also hand held machine guns, hand guns, big heavy boxes of ammunition and all sorts of other guns and weapons.

Eventually we entered security level 3 and we were well ready for having Yemen on our left hand side and Somalia on our right. Small boats were cruising along at slow speed Probably pirates pretending to be fisher men. Just waiting with there weapons hidden to meet a boat that seemed to be an easy target. One without weapons. Well, we were not an easy target. We were armed up to our teeth. Most boats passing here now a days are. You have to if you’re going to make it through. I will have to try to take it brief. I can still not saying anything about what I am doing. That’s the way it has to be. Just another way of traveling.

So the way I am traveling now is a bit of an adventure. I am under constant movement as I am on a boat. In the evenings I have been spending my time editing another video I shot in Hong Kong. I am using iMovie right now and it is working out pretty well. I have just started, this is only my third video I am editing now. Nothing special really. It is just for fun. I am enjoying it and I am happily surprised with what you can do with just iMovie. It is fun to work on something creative as you are traveling along. Next time I will try Final Cut Pro.
