When I am away traveling (like I am most of the time), I can’t really practice much painting. I cannot be carrying all the paint, pencils and canvases with me. It is not that I don’t know what to paint. I always come up with a lot of ideas of what I want to paint. Ok, it has happened that I have been painting on my travels. That I have been buying painting gear and start painting at a hostel. I did that in Negombo, Sri Lanka for example. I hope and believe that the painting is still hanging there. And in Goa I also painted something. That was a pillar at the terrace of a hostel, but they already had painting gear there. So I don’t really paint that often. When I paint I most often use acrylic paint. Some friends of mine use oil paint. And I am a little interested in starting to use oil paint myself after having seen what amazing results they create with oil paint. Here below is a link to an article on a great blog where this lovely lady writes about painting with oil.

Now it has been a while since I was painting anything. And I really miss it. But I wouldn’t be able to be a full time painter. I get tired of it after a few days. But once in a while I really feel good about making a painting. I miss painting even if I am not that good at it. But it is not the matter of being good at everything you do, it is the matter of allowing yourself to do it when you feel like it. But then again what does good mean? Every good painter paint what they are. We paint our own reality. I never knew how to paint, I only knew that I had to do it. I only paint when, and because I absolutely have to. I started to sketch up on a canvas what I wanted to paint, last time I was visiting my mother’s house.

I must finish what I have started. That is what we all should aim for. Do it now. Later sometimes becomes never. Or you leave the place without finishing it, wishing to get back there to finish it. So that is what I am planning to do next time I am visiting my mother’s house back in Sweden. Maybe in a couple of months from now. I hope I will finish the painting and be able to post it on here. Well, they say that it is a small world but I wouldn’t want to be the one painting it. No matter what paint.
