A visit through Algarve – Portugal

This is a post about my visit through Algarve – Portugal. I had a blog post about my visit in Spain before I came to Portugal this time by bus from Sevilla. But I deleted it. Because it was too boring.

This was my second time in Portugal but I had never been to Algarve before. At a first site I thought the landscape looked pretty boring here. Because it all looked so dry and dusty. Hence the colors were gray, yellow and light brown and there were not much vegetation. The weather was hot outside and you could see the coast line from the bus on the highway most of the time. Eventhough it looked far on the map. The bus stopped at the airport in Faro. This is where I sat down for lunch and booked myself a room in town.

Faro

Then I took a taxi to that place where I was going to stay in the center of Faro. It turned out being a small apartment with a few small rooms which were used as Airbnb. But my room had a great cosy terrace where I spent some late evenings on my own editing some video. One day I rented a scooter and went out to the slim island where the miles of beach were white.

In the evening I followed the road to Olhao where I flew my drone, filming the marina, the islands in the horizon and the boats. Once back in Faro I started to talk to some guys that were selling stones and handcraft on the street. They were normally based in Paris but had been traveling in Portugal for whole summer. They asked me to come along to a Brazilian Bar where lots of young people gathered and we had a very nice evening. The day after I took the train to Albufeira.

Albuferia

Albufeira is known as the favorite place for the Brits along this cost line. It is a beautiful and quite lively summer holiday resort where you should spend your days on the beach. I was running on the beach in the mornings. I flew the drone at two different locations here. One on each side of the beach. On the central square there were Apache Indians playing flute with large speakers. I have seen them around in Europe before. I was thinking to infiltrate them to see if they actually are real Apaches, but I skipped it and moved on to Lagos.

Lagos

In Lagos I ended up on a really cool hostel which also had private rooms. There were skateboards with cool motives all over the walls. The owners were a cool couple in their 40’s. The first evening I went for a long walk along the coastline and filmed in a spectacular scenery of rocks with the drone. It was very beautiful and it is definitely a must see if you are in Lagos. In the evening it was quite a lot of people out on the restaurants and bars in the centre. It was lively and lovely. I think I liked Lagos the most out of the three places in Algarve which I visited. I spent a few days there before heading up to the Lisbon area. I’ll write an article about Portugal as a whole and post it in the travel section on this website.

Here is a link to a more comprehensive article about my entire stays in Portugal.

And here is a linnk to a blog post ablout the traveling article.
