I can’t believe I didn’t write up all of this what I wanted to tell about my process of editing, straight away as I was working with it. I am writing this to reflect over my work and hopefully be able to improve my capacity and be able to make another short film. And also to give recommendations of the tools I was using. But since it is becoming quite a few posts now about the same project, maybe I should have put it together as an ebook or something instead.
After the scene with the cats, we get right back to the foreigner and the actress who are left alone at the set. The foreigner is devastated at first but in the story it seem like the two of them are finding each other.
In accordance with the comic theme of the film also some transitions are looking like they are from out of a comic book or a graphic novel. Some of them which I used was already in the default library of the editing software I’m using (Final Cut Pro X). Others was included in the plugins I recommended in the previous post.
The next plugin for comic effects I want to recommend is “mFreezeFrame Comic”.
This one I have used for all the speech bubbles, graphic words popping up and the comic effect which is fading in and out on the entire footage from time to time, making it look like animations.

It is available in a program called “mInstaller”. Which is a program where lots of plugins for FCPX are available to download and mInstaller installs these plugins to FCPX automatically. Which is awesome. (Manual installation by placing plugins into the folder system can be confusing, if there is an error. Since it is not visible what has gone wrong). That you find out how to do by checking on youtube.
After just a couple of minutes into the project with finished edited film, one could tell that the project was starting to get too heavy. The computer was working hard, got hot and everything slowed down. Rendering time started to take over. This ment that it would be impossible to edit the entire film with all these effects on a computer with the prestanda which mine has. How to get around this problem? I had to do it in parts. 3-5 min at the time then render it out as if it was a finished product and at the final stage load in those finished parts to the project in the editing program. In that way I could just past the parts together at the final stage.
